This month is going to be a busy one, I have so many freelance projects that I need to finish before the end of the month ! I have to stay on schedule !

I'm excited about this weekend though, I going to a Small Business Seminar ! I can't wait for the information overload.

Friday Funday Recap

So today the beau and I found a local Comicbook Shop in Colonial Heights ! It was fun and we purchased a couple of things. I got a comic re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz and Chew. We also found out that there is a ComicCon next weekend in Richmond !!!! Woot woot ! So we will definitely be in attendance.

I also did some work for a Piano Studio today. I designed about 4-5 music sheet covers, I'll post them once I have my watermark completed.

Getting myself in order

Lists really help me accomplish more of the things that need to be done in my life ! lol

I have a list for my hair care company and I have a list for what I need/want/have to complete on the art side of things.

Even with my love of lists, I know I am slacking on the art side of things, so hopefully my goal by my next 2-3 posts is to have something more to share other than me slacking ! lol

Back in Action

I'm back in action and back with my beau, plus I remembered to bring my light table !! huzzah and hurray !!

Sad, to say is I am SORELY behind on my reading.. blame it on........ me... just blame it on me... so tomorrow, I want to have read the first section of that book! I do think that even though I'm juggling my two loves, I am putting more time into the hair. Which is good and bad, so my only goal is to do better. I'm going to purchase a planner (or just buy a planner app) to get my life together. I do though LOVE to write things down on pretty little pieces of paper with pretty little pens in my pretty little handwriting... lol

NTwho, me thinks that's all for now : ) Hopefully the next blog post will be much more substantial !

30 day Blog-a-Day Challenge

Today starts my 30 day blog-a-day challenge for my blog ! I am in the middle of a lot right now but I don't want to lose sight of all the goals that I want to accomplish with my design, illustration and etc. I don't know if I will hit my goal marker for finishing my first book because I became wrapped up in my hair/body care company that I'm and developing.

As I stated before I want to have this hair/body care biz plus the biz that I am starting with my beau. We are joining forces !

I need to have a set schedule and a goal list to accomplish everything that I want to accomplish for the long term and short term. The biggest thing that I want for both is more traffic coming to the blog. Well, both blogs. I think that developing this hair/body care will also help me to develop my art business as well because I can take what I have learned and apply here. I also received an illustrator package. It's a 12 week program that takes you from the basics to actually being paid for your work. It's really interesting and I hope to start that soon as well.

I think that having a schedule and a goal list will really pay off so that I don't end up biting off more than I can chew. I just can't focus on hair care and forget about art, or vice-versa. They are two of passions and I will just have to juggle.

Besides, I need to become even more productive and I think the challenge of juggling these two porjects will help my productivity level.

So I'm debating about starting another blog.. mainly for hair.. and the evolution of my hair care business.... hmmmmmmm because I kind of want an art blog and also a hair blog.. i dunno, i think it would get to crazy combining everything thats in this pretty little head all in one blogspot

So I know what I DO NOT WANT TO DO...

That is graphic design, web design, blah blah blah. I'll do it the pay the bills for the time being and then whenever I feel like it, but I do not want to do that "forever."

I have a couple of projects brewing in my head right now on the illustration side, but then I've always wanted to do animation as well. I KNOW I need to educate myself about both even more (but as an artist, it's a given you will forever be a student.)to either get work/projects and or a position.

BREWING -- Natural Haircare Book for kids( specifically for boys and girls)
Where am I from series(?) I did a lay-out for a story like this for my senior project at VSU and Im just thinking of taking it further.
Historical Graphic Novel featuring female lead character. I'm thinking it would go through all the major periods in Black History. Right now its titled "Stolen"
Animation of a bouncy ball with attitude.. I have the storyboard for it already done.



ALSO; I have been two businesses in the works. One is for haircare that I might start either a blog or tumblr for and the second is a art business. My haircare name I'm debating with either Simply, Simply Marvelous or Marvel. It would be total body care for the whole family. My art business is basically what I do freelancing now but making it a legitimate business.I intend on getting business licenses for both. I would be teaming up with my boyfriend who is a comic book artist. Right now the name is Smartist Logic Artistry. The end goal for SLA would be to have a storefront. It would be a combination of a bookstore/artstore/studio/cafe. Basically it came about from me having to go to separate places to do things such as buying art books, or getting art supplies, or going somewhere to just sit and draw. I figure why not have a place when people can go and its all there. I was doing research about it and there is a market for it because it doesnt exist !!!

whew !!! I don't know if that made sense but it felt great to get it out of my head ! sheesh laweesh.

I think I need to take a brain break

Serious Questions

I don't know why it seems I that I have so many "art" books but have yet to completely finish one ! Let it be a graphic novel or a novel and Im all over it ! I read and finish books like I'm getting paid to do it.... so why can't I finish these books that Im more than obvious interested in and in some cases they may have less pages than a novel. I just dont get it. I read "The Help" and Nicholas Sparks "The Wedding" and "Safe Haven" in around 3-4 days. You would think that I could finish an art book, whether is technical with tuts/projects/assignments. I have stumped myself. I'll show you the three books that I have with me right now. I intend on finishing the first one by the middle of October. I think that's a reasonable goal. The other two I have to think of a gameplan because they are workbooks and one is really extensive.

also, I have so many things brewing inside my head and I need to get them out before I forget ! I think I'll make that a second blog post.

BOOK #2 -- Due Date November 5 (or earlier)
BOOK #3 -- Due Date January 5 ?( unsure because this is a technical/tutorial/assignment heavy read that is supposed to span a year I think)






So, that's it folks. I really need to start setting goals for myself more often and completing them ! Setting them is easy, its the finishing part that gets in the way !

SO, i am behind on sketchbook month, and i have a little change.. to avoid confusion, i noticed that folks were posting the sketches in accordance with the days... so today would be Day 11 sketche.. so im going to start doing that instead..

I will be posting my 3 sketches.. yes 3! im behind.. but i have the weekend to catch up.. because weekends are "off" lol : ) I really do love this sketchbook month...

So I missed Mondays Sketchbook Post, so I have two sketches to post... plus a finished sketch from day two or three... i dunno its below,

So, with this whole sketchbook month thing going on, I have noticed a couple things that I will try to do better involving my sketchbook.

1. filling up the whole page and or proper use of positive and negative space
2. using different mediums
3. drawing/sketching different types of subject matter.

I think this will be really good for. It will help me to accomplish some personal mini goals. One is to actually complete a sketchbook, and then to finish all the ones prior that I started.

Another is to read all the books I currently have in my library... which is a lot... I should take a photo !! lol : )

anywho.. daily sketching is also something I need to do better with and this is helping me stick to it !
